Whole Foods runs weekly sale ads like many other major retailers, but they noticed that their target audience does not receive the sale ads in print as newspaper circulation is declining. Whole Foods has been listing their sales on their website for a while now and decided to take it one step further by building a custom Facebook app to provide access to their sales through the world’s largest social media platform.
The Facebook app was designed to mimic the style of the Whole Foods print and online sales fliers while incorporating social sharing features. The app ties directly in with the Whole Foods sales API to keep itself completely up to date with no maintenance whatsoever. The app is plug and play, so that once the store and sales IDs are entered, the app will run itself. The same app can be used for every Whole Foods store because it includes an admin area that allows the Facebook page administrator to assign the correct store ID to the app.
