Prague Summer Nights: Young Artists Music Festival is an extraordinary experience put together by Classical Movements, an Alexandria-based company for whom we’ve already had the pleasure of creating a website. Set in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, it is truly a one-of-a-kind opportunity for aspiring, young professionals in opera, orchestra, stage direction, conducting, coaching, and arts administration. They are immersed in a world of art and learning set against the stunning backdrop of the Czech Republic and historic venues like The Estates Theater, built during the late 18th century. Prague Summer Nights arranges a fantastic 30-day festival that includes not just lessons and masterclasses, but fully-staged opera productions, symphonic performances, chamber music concerts, and a cabaret concert. Prague Summer Nights and Classical Movements are truly a class act, and we were honored to create yet another website for them.
Prague Summer Nights had a few important goals going into this project. They wanted to modernize the design and have it better reflect the festival’s quality and prestige. On the development side, they wanted to promote the festival, improve communication and information access for participants, and increase the number of qualified applicants, participants, and attendees to the festival’s performances.
Ironistic delivered by creating a striking design that shows off the festival’s dream location with a panoramic hero image of Prague that shifts from day to night. While this draws in the user, key promos and call-to-actions are overlaid, so the most important information is immediately accessible. Scrolling down, visitors are treated to an artful layout that offers more beautiful photos, prime info about Prague Summer Nights, interactive infographics about the festival’s programs, an event calendar, featured testimonials and even recent social media newsbites (powered by Juicer) – all for user-friendly engagement. Call-to-actions are again strategically placed to encourage further discovery with the end goal being turning user engagement into user conversions.
Just like the home page, the interior pages tastefully combine key content with stunning images in a reader-friendly layout, and the WordPress CMS helps them easily update the site with news, photos, videos, or any other content. Side note: Because the festival takes place in Prague, we figured they’d probably get a lot of hits from European users, so we made sure the site adheres to EU guidelines (like incorporating a cookie usage notice). Last but not least, to meet Prague Summer Nights’ goal of improved communication, Ironistic developed a portal that allows participants to interact before, during, and after the festival; plus, the site comes responsively designed for access (and communication) on all types of devices. That’s beauty and brains for you.
