Members 1st of New Jersey Federal Credit Union was formed in 1938 as the Cumberland Teachers Federal Credit Union. Their founders saw the need for a not-for-profit and democratically operated cooperative that would provide lower cost financial services, as well as represent the best financial interests of its members.
In 2009, Members 1st merged with Salem County School Employee’s FCU. They served the employees of the Salem County Boards of Education and several private schools. Once again, because of their expanded membership, they changed their name to Members 1st of New Jersey Federal Credit Union. Today they serve over 7,165 members from 84 select employer groups, with assets exceeding $48,000,000.
As part of our efforts to make the website more mobile optimized and give it a more modern look, a homepage refresh was undertaken in 2016. The main goals of the refresh were to present the information currently on the homepage in a new and easy to navigate way, increase conversions for key elements such as applying for a loan and logging into online banking, and making sure the call-to-action elements were easy to click on while using a mobile device. The use of lifestyle images and custom graphics makes the page more visual and helps draw users eyes to the main conversion points. Also during the refresh, a new simplified header and footer were implemented sitewide.
